Welcome to the site of the kids future (tree-less) treehouse. This sandbox has seen it's last chubby red and yellow dump truck and is ready for a make over. Our main floor deck off the back of the house is actually one story up on the back side of the house. This sandbox sits at the bottom of the stairs and is surrounded by trees. So while the construction will be more of an elevated fort, it will still have a treehouse feel.
The kids lobbied pretty hard to have the fort built in the woods behind the house. But um.... I'm not stupid so..... yeah. I put my foot down and "suggested" to my husband that it really needed to be in a place where I could spy on them be within visual and hearing distance. They'll still have plenty of privacy, but I'll be a happy stalker mom too.
The boys got a good start this past weekend removing the sides of the sand box and pouring new concrete footings. Hope to get more work done this weekend if the weather holds.
This is so cool! I read through your posts and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. My husband and I were thinking of diy-ing a play structure for our kids this summer (or before summer hits:), so this is great inspiration for me.
