Last week I was thrilled to find out that I had won one of Savvy Season's five $100 giveaways. I know! I get all giddy just thinking about it. What a thrill, for real, I'm telling you!
Of course, when a hundred whopping dollars falls right into your lap, then you have to figure out what to do with it.... ❈
Here's the thing... A lot of things ran through my head...... But there's been something I've been really wanting to do for a while now... something that just kept poking me and nudging me.... seriously, like every day this thought would pop into my mind.... It turns out that idea was waiting for a reason.
And when that sweet card and gorgeous green Benjamin turned up in my mailbox... I just got the biggest smile on my face and knew it was time. ❈
I took that $100 and matched it dollar for dollar with $100 of my own...
And what I ended up buying was -
50 pounds of rice
30 pounds of oatmeal
25 pounds of beans
24 cans of peaches
24 cans of mandarins
20 cans of soup
15 boxes of Mac & Cheese
12 cans of green beans
10 bottles of glass/multi-purpose cleaner
10 cans of Ajax cleanser
10 bottles of Pine-Sol
10 jugs of laundry detergent
That's 332 pounds of food and cleaning supplies that I was able to donate to the food bank in our sweet little town.
I clearly remember drinking powdered milk and eating government processed cheese "food" as a little girl. And Ramen.... lots and lots of Ramen.... Times were tough. Not all of the time, but there were times... It meant so much to me to give a little back today. ❈
Thank you Liz and Savvy Seasons, from the very bottom of my heart for helping me make this little (dream) project of mine come true. ❈ (PS - She's giving away $100 bills every Friday through the end of the month. You'd be smart to enter to win it!)
OMG, Jen, WOW, what a *BIG* and generous heart you have....that was so incredibly sweet of you. You amaze me all of the time, because you are such a good and genuine person, but you really surprised me with this unselfish gift. Thanks for sharing and I'm so glad I could help. *smile*
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! XOXO ~Liz
Omgosh Jen I stopped by after liz gave you props on her blog comments. I thought I'd arrive to your blog and see wreaths and pumpkins garlands and crafts. But no I came here and my tears welled in my eyes. What a freaking awesome way to spend that money. I believe you will be blessed so much through your act of giving. I can't honestly say I would have even thought to do that- thank you for this reminder today. God bless ya girl!
