Beachy Keen...

So, this is what a $100 front room makeover looks like.  I really have to preface this by saying clearly, this room is far from finished.  But at least it has satisfied the "It will do for now" urge in me to change it up a little (Five years of looking at the same things in this room - it was SO time for a change!).  I'd love to find a rug to go on the floor and some ironwork to go on either side of the fireplace, and it definitely needs a floor lamp. But alas, there are other growing plans that need financial watering right now, like oh.... I don't know.... new dining room chairs, and maybe trips to Hawaii for someone who may be turning 40 this year and needs a little fabulous something to celebrate?  So, yes, I'm happy with how things turned out. ❈

Hmm, I think it's fuller in real life.  In photos the need for the rug and something on the walls is kind of glaring.  You'll have to trust me that in real life it's a little more finished looking than this ❈

Pillows, and blue candle pot from Ikea, white flower pot and plant from Home Depot.  The print on the pillows reminds me of seaweed...

Mantle turned out fabulous, I'm really pleased with it.  From left to right: green glass candle sticks (Ross, have had these a while), White lantern (Michael's), Rafia balls (Ikea), Starfish (Marshalls), Frames (thrifted and dry brushed with white paint), blue bottles (JoAnn's Fabric and Craft), Seagull (Marshalls).

These shells are sitting on an antique bar we have that you can't see in the photo. The shells my mom found on the beach in North Carolina and shipped to us recently, the flat basket is from Michael's.

But wait, there's a little more!  I also did my entry table to tie in the look.  (Would have loved to get a new coordinating mirror here...)

Frames (clearance area at Cost Plus World Imports), Photo stands (Michael's), have had the hurricane lantern for a while, but got a new candle for it at the buy one get one free sale at our local Fred Meyer. Wooden bowl (Ikea, only $8!) Driftwood and stones (collected at the beach on Mother's Day), Ivy plants (Home Depot).

So there you have it.  My $100 Beachy Keen update.  I think I worked the heck out of that hundred dollar limit!  I kind of love it. ❈

  1. Ok, you need to come help me with the coastal look. Your mantle looks exquisite. Your pictures of the kids are wonderful and I love the bottles, starfish, and lantern among other things. All the colors and furniture go so lovely together, creating a soft, soothing palette. Well done, girl, you did great for $100.00.

Your entry table is warm and cozy. I love that you have the soft and warm palette running through your house, just lovely! Thanks for sharing. I now have several ideas for my Master Bedroom. =) Enjoy the evening and the sun! *smile* ~Liz
