Yes I know, I know. It's been exactly 100 years since I've written anything. Life has been rolling right along at an even keel and sometimes it's just not blog-worthy.
We had waffles for breakfast.
I picked up the kids at the bus stop
You get the drift....
So. My husband has been working a lot - which is not at all unexpected from time to time. It's fine, doable, and just part of our lives. Recently it's been weeks and weeks of traveling followed by two weekends of weekend duty followed by a weekend off in which he ended up working both days. He hasn't had more than one day off in a row since.... well since... well months actually. Yay for overtime, but really? Thankfully he loves what he does. It helps tremendously.
Under those circumstances, even though it's normal and expected, sooner or later we all come face to face with the proverbial wall and hover in front of it, on the verge of hitting. Ok, well maybe some of us hit it gently and bounced off...
You know what you have to do under those circumstances? If you can't get yourselves to the "weekend", you just have to make the "weekend" come to you!
Yay for surprises ❈
Mr. Very Smart and Thoughtful Husband came home and let me know I'd need to pull the kids from school for a couple of days. He'd arranged for two mid-week days off and rented us a beachside cabin on Orcas. If you'd ever been to the Islands you'd know what a treat this is. (Happy sighs....)
So nice to have something to look forward to.
Photos to follow.
